There has been a lot going on at this house of late.......August has turned stressful since the vacation, and as a sanity saver I have begun piecing the hexagon blocks for my Mom's One Block Wonder quilt. In some nutty moment of optimism in an earlier post, I'd said I'd hoped to have it DONE by the start of school. Clearly, I must have been out of my mind or sipping wine or something. But, at least I have begun.
And so, I'm initiating a HEX CHECK. Since you don't actually sew the hexagons together until the entire quilt is arranged to your liking on a design wall, I'm going to count finished hexagons as ones that are pieced in two full halves, fully pressed, ready for the design wall. As of this morning, I have 33 out of 224 done with several more awaiting the final pres

OH MY Connie......I love this!!! I'm drawn to the colors as well. I can't wait to see it finished.
As for enjoying every minute of my quilting...I must confess I stayed up until 4:30 last night so I could finish this "FUNGLY" looking flower quilt I started. I said I wasn't going to bed until I had all the squares together!!! Sometimes I just have to make myself go to bed and then I can't wait to get up and start again!!
Love them ,doubt if I could wait till the end to sew them together but they certainly are pretty .
So pretty...can hardly wait until you have all the blocks made and then start the process of laying them out for the best eye catching arrangement.
I think your Mom's idea of making one of these for every season is spot on! However, the next two need to be for you! I didn't think anything could be as pretty as your first one, but this one may top it!
I love the fabric. I bought the 'One Block Wonder' book, but I haven't picked a fabric yet. I'll enjoy watching yours go together, and THEN I'll decide if I have enough nerve to attempt one!
