Block number 9 is done--just in time to hand in on Friday. I can't believe that this BOM is going by so quickly........time is just going by too fast for *everything* lately. My son "graduated" from kindergarten last week, my daughter had her last day of preschool.....so many milestones. And time just keeps grinding onward. I definitely need to be mindful of slowing myself down and trying to live in the moment as much as I can.On the home front, the kitchen cabinets are back up on the wall and I did a major purge/cleaning/reorganization of the contents. Of course that is only two cabinets out of the whole kitchen, but at least it's some progress on my resolution to clean out and pare down. We have a patch of grass in our lawn that hasn't been mowed in about a month (!!) due to these little guys:
Yes, they are sweet and soft and adorable, but thank heavens they are done growing and as of yesterday have left for adventures in the tree farm! We were happy to let them have room and board, but now that the six of them are out and about, I've patched gaps under the fence and instructed the kids to keep the gate to the back yard closed. I have a vegetable garden to protect!
This luscious fabric is "Fayette" by Sentimental Studios for Moda, pattern #15510. I have been commissioned to make another "One Block Wonder" quilt! It's for my sweet Mom. She and my Dad went to China on a trip earlier in the year, and she told me that on the loooooong plane ride back she had a vision for a complementary quilt to my brother and SIL's wedding quilt (which was a OBW quilt my Mom dubbed "Autumn Garden"). Her specifications were springy colors and a lot of green, and lucky me found this great fabric at a local quilt shop Pieceful Hearts. I am off and running on it--much less angst than the first go around with a OBW quilt! (at least so far!) It even has a name: "Spring Garden." Dear Mom is planning out a series of four seasonal OBW quilts! (yikes!)
Summer has hit and the kids are thrilled to be going to the local pool. I, being 44 and highly cognizant of sun damage, am a little less thrilled with the prospect of being out in the sun so much. We are slathering on sunscreen and I am sporting a stylish (NOT) giant sun hat whenever possible. But I remind myself that these days of playing in the pool are important to my kids--they are masters at living in the moment and enjoying every second. So I'm doing my best to take some lessons from them while they splash and play!

Wonderful fabric - and I hear ya on the slathering and the floppy hat. The Munchkin has decided my hat for the summer shall be a canvas bucket hat with Tigger and Pooh on it. Oh well - life goes on, and hat hair is stylish, right>>>
That fabric is stunning...can hardly wait to view the finished product.
