I have a theory that in general there are two kinds of quilter processes: 1. There's me--very linear in my approach to any project. I organize ALL the fabric, then cut all the fabric needed for the entire project, and then I very methodically follow through the piecing process completing each section of piecing fully before moving to the next segment of piecing, making each block section in order--get the picture? My DH has described it as "puckered" (as in anal retentive)--but it works for me. I will make every single block of a quilt before ever even thinking about laying them out.
Then there's 2. like my friend Susan (my shopping buddy from yesterday). I tease her a lot about her methodology for constructing her quilts because it is so different from mine! She will cut some of the fabric, make some block pieces, then make a handful of blocks, lay out those few blocks, cut some more fabric, piece a little more, add to the layout.....I don't want to say her approach isn't "linear"--it's a line, it's just more like the line a bumblebee follows when zooming around a huge field of flowers!
So here I am working on the wedding quilt again this morning. I am sewing the hexagon halves into vertical strips and
these vertical strips are stacking up next to each other on the design wall, and it is KILLING ME!!! I must know NOW what it is going to look like when the vertical strips are sewn together! This is SO not my usual modus operandi--this is the bumble bee approach! But I can't wait this time--can't sew all the vertical strips before starting to put them together. As soon as I finish the strip I'm making now, the strips that are done so far are getting put together! DH is giving me some weird looks 'cause he knows this is not normal for me.

If I get any interesting data I'll be sure to post the results!

Hi, Connie! I connected to your blog through a comment you left on blog.com regarding your blog banner I assumed. I've been trying to figure out how to ask someone from there a couple of questions about my blog and I can't get connected with anyone to get help. How did you ask a question?
BTW, my primary hobby is cardmaking (that's my blog), but my next love is quilting! I've only made two full size quilts, but lots of wall hangings and smaller projects. My mother is the queen of quilt-makers. The art of quilting is exquisite.
Thank you for any technical help you can give on asking a question on blogger.com
