I will be cutting up the second batch of six layers (for the hexagons) shortly and wanted to share a photo of the fabric design before it's turned into kaleidoscopes. The fabric is from the Classical Home Collection by Marianne Elizabeth for Benartex. The design name is "Marleigh" (pattern 1121) and I believe the colorway is Cabernet red. This red is very close to the red/wine color that the bride (my new sister in law) chose for the bridesmaids' gowns and happens to be her favorite color! Luckily, my brother is not too picky about such things.

I LOVED the colors when I saw this fabric. My only teeny weeny little concern is that I am wondering if there is too much background (red/wine) in the design to pull off good transitions between the hexagons once they are grouped into families and arranged. Having never done a quilt of this type before, I'm not sure what to expect! So time will tell........

That's a great fabric! I don't know much about those quilts; they're on my to-do list in the future so I don't know what I can tell you! But it's a great fabric! =)
