I am on cloud nine! I just reserved a ticket to go listen to one of my favorite authors--Jennifer Chiaverini--speak at a local library later this month! She is going to do a reading from her newest book "The New Year's Quilt" and answer questions.
There were only 5 tickets left and now my name is on one of them! I also pre-ordered two of her books that will be autographed by her (these will be part of my Christmas booty this year and DH is insisting that I can't read a single page--they have to get wrapped!). I am doing a serious happy dance here!
Other tidbits: Got block number three kit for the 1930's Block of the Month project today. The colors this time are a very patriotic red, white, and blue. Tomorrow is the Greater Chicago Quilt Exposition hosted by Mancuso. I will be there all day both volunteering for white glove duty and selling raffle tickets for my guild's raffle quilt (and a wee bit of shopping around). Sunday is a birthday party for a friend's daughter, and I'm sure my two kids will have an absolute blast. Life is good!

Ohhhh you are so lucky! I found out last night that she was doing a book signing in Brookfield that night. Unfortunately I already had plans with my dad and he doesn't fully "get" the quilting thing. Now had it been my mom not only would we have changed plans but she would have come along for her own copy!
