I have been thinking about the meaning of the word “bliss.” Not because I am feeling intellectual (ha ha) but because I have noticed my dear husband has a certain tone and demeanor whenever he says the name of my blog. Now, I am the first one to admit that “bliss” is not a tremendously masculine word, but when DH says it, he clearly has an opinion about this word (translation: this is a sissy word)! I know he’s teasing me, but I feel the need to stand up and defend my blog name!
“Pieces” refers to both the quilting term and all the little things that happen day to day that compose life. “Bliss” actually derives from an Old English word that dates to before the 12th century (thanks Merriam Webster)! It’s defined as “a feeling of well-being and contentment” or “complete and perfect happiness.” One dictionary said that the old English word was an alteration of a Germanic word that meant “gentle and kind.”
For me, quilting is definitely something in my life that makes me feel content and happy. And life, despite the bumps in the road, is a pretty wonderful thing. And there you have it—how my blog got its name. So MAYBE when DH reads this post, he’ll better understand how this blog got named, and maybe he’ll appreciate the word “bliss” more, and maybe he'll....… nahhh! (Well, a girl can dream!)

Nah, if he's anything like my hubby, that will just give him more amo to work with! Mine now works an 8 from my Cre8tive in everywhere he can because he thinks it's the goofiest thing ever!
I think your blog name is very cool and highly inventive!
