Sounds silly, but I am so nervous about writing my first post! Not sure I could even explain why....so I'm just going to take a deep breath and jump. Here goes......
Had my son's 6th birthday party last night and spent today trying to clean up. Parties seem to be house cleaning intensive both before and after! He declared it to be "his best party ever" so we must have done it right--lots of family and food.
I did treat myself to some quilting time this morning--I am working on an original design that I plan to submit to the Fons and Porter/QNNTV/Original Sewing Expo challenge called "Done in One (weekend, that is!)." My project is a quilt (finished size estimated to be about 68" x 68") tentatively named "November Nova" since the design has kind of a radiating/echoing star feeling to it.
This name also has a more personal significance 'cause this quilt was designed/made for my son--he has received a baby quilt made by me (I was a real newbie to quilting at that point in time) but nothing since. He's a November baby, my first--and believe me, his arrival in my life was a huge event--like a personal super nova! Hence the proposed name.
I never made my daughter a baby quilt (and there's a good reason for that, but that is a story for another day), but I did make her a quilt for her first "big girl bed" (it's an original design by me--my first ever original design!) Her quilt is called "Stars for Claire." Some day I'll have to write about the saga of this quilt design--it's a doozy.

Welcome to blog-land! If you're zodiac is the Dragon, we must be the same age because I am too.
