This afternoon I *should* have sewn on the wedding quilt, but I just couldn't do it. My "studio" was a complete disaster. So, not only did I do some tidying up, I actually reorganized, pared down, and relocated my fabric stash! Here is the fabric loosely organized in piles--I used to store it in the old steamer trunk you see in the background:
I had been toying with the idea of buying one of those fancy label makers that are advertised a lot lately. I checked them out at the local office supply store and talked myself out of spending the money. I simply printed labels for my stash on standard label stock and trimmed them down. Here is the new and improved stash system:
All my fabric is now folded nicely in labelled drawers in this Ikea dresser:
I have a nice big bag of fabric to donate at a local quilt shop for Project Linus and other charity work and I am going to use the trunk to store bolts and boxes and other miscellaneous gear from around the "studio." I am inordinately happy that I spent some time after lunch doing this! Kind of like a fresh start. I did find quite a bit of fabric that I haven't washed yet--that will be my ongoing project for the rest of the week. Oh....yeah....guess I'll try to work on that wedding quilt some, too. I need to get that done pretty quick since I have entered it in my guild's upcoming show in March!! Now *that* is motivation!

Great job on the organization! It looks wonderful and I'm sure you'll be able to use it better now
I bet you feel great getting all that organizing done!
Looks great -and just think that you can spend the label maker money on fabric instead! :-P
I envy you the rug - I have an attic studio with rough plank floors, so can't do much sorting or work on the floor. It makes flat surfaces a premium.
