"November Nova" went back to the long arm quilter--she filled in the missing quilting very quickly AND as a bonus I also got back "Lady's Choice." (I'll post a picture of LC soon!) So today I sewed on the binding and hanging sleeve for NN--now it is a matter of hand stitching to finish both of those items. Worked on that some tonight after doing the kids' baths and in between work-related stuff.
I used my Janome 6600P to do the binding--more specifically, I used the Accufeed system and Accufeed 1/4" foot. Now, I really love how easy it is to add binding using this system--you don't need to pin or anything! It is awesome.......BUT, my one gripe is that the 1/4" flange is very hard to see--it's tucked in kind of underneath the front edge of the foot and it's quite slim and black. Not easy to see. But today I came up with a little extra "help" that made seeing the fabric edge and the flange a wee bit easier. It was hard to get a really good picture of it, but essentially I used one of those clip-on book lights to illuminate the flange underneath the front edge of the foot. Since I was just sewing a simple seam, it wasn't in the way, and it gave me enough light to keep the raw edges of the top, batt, and back abutted against it evenly! See if you can spot that little black flange under there. This foot could use a little redesign, but you can't beat the Accufeed system for stuff like this!
Here's my little clip-on reading light. For something that just runs on small batteries, it gives off some decent light! And below is the 6600's built in walking foot system with the 1/4" foot attached.

Great idea! And I am glad that the quilter was able to finish the quilting for you on the NN!
